Seefeld Local History Room Index

Tips on using the Newspaper Index:

Browsing

You have the option to browse by subject or by year. Subject headings include such things as company/organization names, community events, schools/churches, local government, and much more. The subject headings are separated out into lists based on the subjects' beginning letter. Keep in mind that some years are not yet well represented.

Searching

Keywords or Names

  • Type keywords or names in the search box and press enter or click on search. If entering more than one keyword or name, please select whether you want the results to match 'Any words' or 'All words'. Searching for 'All words' will produce fewer, but potentially more accurate matches.
  • Keep your search simple -- newspaper headlines can be very brief!
  • When searching for a person, try last name only when possible.
  • Avoid common words like a, the, of etc.
  • Capitalization of words and word order does not matter.

Dates

  • If looking for an article from a particular date range, select a date-limiting option (before, after, or between) and select a date. If you don't select anything (leaving the date-limiting option at 'any'), articles from all years will be searched.

About the Search Results

  • Searches will return partial matches. A search for park will also retrieve parks, parking, parked etc.
  • Records are ordered by Date, with the most recent matches first.
  • Clicking on a subject link in the detailed display will create a new search returning all articles with the that subject.

Requesting photocopies of articles

Requests for photocopies must be made by mail with payment of $5.00 for each item requested enclosed. Make checks payable to the Fond du Lac Public Library. Send to:
